Who we are
It's Giving Gone ("we," "us") is an independent website operated by Cory Dickes, based in North Carolina, United States, at itsgivinggone.com. This policy explains what we collect and why. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address — only if you choose to sign up for deal alerts or to unlock the Drives Atlas. There are no user accounts and no passwords.
- Basic usage & device data — like most websites, our servers and analytics record standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page) to keep the site secure and understand what's useful.
- Preferences — some choices (like your filters and home airport) are stored locally in your own browser so the site remembers them. That data stays on your device.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we don't ask for payment details — bookings happen on third-party sites, not here.
Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage for essential functions (remembering your preferences), for analytics (measuring traffic), for affiliate attribution (so a partner knows a booking came from us), and for advertising — our ad partners set their own cookies to select ads, limit repeats, and measure whether an ad worked. You can block or clear cookies in your browser; the core site will still work, though some conveniences may not.
Advertising
This site carries display advertising sold through Sovrn, which resells inventory through a number of advertising exchanges. Those partners may collect your IP address, device and browser information, the pages you view here, and cookie identifiers, and may use them to show you interest-based ads here and elsewhere. They are independent controllers of that data: they decide what they collect, we don't receive it, and their own privacy policies govern it. Under some US state privacy laws this counts as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising. The opt-outs below work.
Advertising never changes the deals. No advertiser can buy a place in the rankings or a better score. Deals are ordered by measured price against market rates and nothing else.
How we use your information
- To send you the deal alerts and Drives Atlas content you signed up for.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the site.
- To measure aggregate traffic and understand which deals and features are useful.
- To credit our travel partners when you book through a link, so we can earn the commission that keeps the site free.
Affiliate links & third-party services
It's Giving Gone participates in affiliate and travel-partner programs (for example, flight search via Travelpayouts/Aviasales, and hotel, rental, and booking partners). When you click a deal, you're taken to a third-party site (such as Airbnb, a hotel, or a booking provider) to complete your reservation. Those sites have their own privacy policies and terms, and your information there is governed by them, not by us. We may receive a commission on bookings made through our links.
We also rely on standard third-party providers to run the site, such as our hosting and content-delivery network and website analytics.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your personal information for money, and we never give your email address to advertisers — the ad partners described above never receive it. We only disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the site.
Your choices & rights
- Unsubscribe anytime — every deal email includes an unsubscribe link, or email us and we'll remove you.
- Access or delete your data — email [email protected] and we'll handle requests to access or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Cookies — manage or clear them through your browser settings at any time.
- Opt out of interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info (DAA) or optout.networkadvertising.org (NAI). You'll still see ads; they just stop being targeted.
- Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising.
- Ad blockers are welcome. We'd rather you use the site than not.
Data retention
We keep subscriber emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Technical logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operations.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults planning travel and is not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
